In driving around last weekend, I saw that the Spanish Embassy is hosting a photography exhibit of works by Alberto Schommer which I am totally pumped to put on my running “list” of things to see in the city.
Schommer is mostly known for his portrait photography but also landscapes, and his potrait of Andy Warhol might be the piece to most likely resonate with Americans – likely why they chose it for their poster. I’m not sure yet what’s included in the exhibit but I’ve put in a few of my favorites below.
The great thing about this exhibit is that it is free and open to the public – the bad thing is that if you’re a worker bee, the hours aren’t exactly conducive to going to see it. A trade-off for free I suppose – maybe I’ll make a lunch date one day with Mr. Schommer.
Exhibit on display until July 6th.
Visiting hours: Monday-Thursday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and Friday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
All photographs by Alberto Schommer.
