Hello! It’s nice to “e-meet” you.  Isn’t it funny how we all seem to be doing a lot of e-meeting these days? But when you move every two years, each time to a different corner of the globe, you do a lot of your life on “e”: e-meet, e-mail, e-pay so that you can keep up with your old life while building a new one.

We move because I’m married to a diplomat, even though I studied to become one myself.  It’s just one of those things twists that happen in life I suppose.  And together with one diplo-tot in tow, we live the world in two to three year increments, discovering new places and foods and arts and all the little things that go with day to day living while making a home away from home.

  2. Hi!
I found your blog through twitter. I love your "Notes from the field" column!
This comment isn't for publication I just wanted to let you know that there is an error in your "about" section:
"even thought I studied to become...". I think you meant "even though".

I only point this out because I know when writing so much it can be hard to see and thought you would like to know. I hope this was helpful and not annoying!

    Great site!!

  4. So glad I came across your blog! :) I grew up moving around the world every two to three years because of my parents' jobs (they weren't diplomats but I grew up with a lot of kids whose parents were). I'm still moving every two to three years now, but due to our own jobs. We're currently in the process of moving to Dubai from London - so excited. x

    1. NYL, thanks for your note! London is often on my circuit - bring all the layers you can from Dubai, gone will be those warm desert nights! But still an adventure in its own right to be sure - good luck with the move!

  5. Hi :-) Lovely to (e) meet you! I found your blog on Blog Boss and I really like your idea of blogging about the places you stay and live with your family. Must be great to stay in a place for longer and then go somewhere else again. You can find my blog here > www.designclaud.nl.
It's also sort of a travel blog but I'm travelling around the world together with my boyfriend for a few years. So I can totally understand what you love about going to new places and trying all the new things! See you in class :-) Claudia

  6. Hi, Have also discovered your blog via BYW, and with so much focus on an 'about me' page, and as one who hasn't yet done one, thought it appropriate to leave a comment here. It certainly has me thinking a lot! Love your blog - what an interesting and varied life you must lead. Looking forward to reading more!
