I was starting to think that we don’t have much travel to look forward to in the coming months. But it never stays that way for long at our house. Out of nowhere, an opportunity to visit Key West popped up – and in just a few short weeks no less. It will be to visit some dear Danish friends coming to make their first US trip. This family looked out for us in more ways than I can say, and their daughter is arguably one of my daughters best friends still, even more than an ocean away and more than a year and a half apart. My daughter is of course over the moon, and I’m thrilled as well. When do you ever turn down the combination of sunshine and good friends? That’s right, never.
I haven’t been to Key West in years. I think the last time (and only) time I was there, I was about a quarter of my current age, if that tells you anything. I’m a voracious reader of all things Hemingway, so I was hoping to read or re-read a few while down there, and of course, to visit that nutty cat infested house of his. To have a margarita of course. A key lime pie?
We’re not there too long but I’m all ears for recommendations and advice on making the most of an end of December trip to our southernmost point (kind of like our own American Skagen…but warmer…and more palm trees).
