A few round-ups from this week’s traffic – here’s what’s on the radar:
1. Summer Colors: I don’t know if this last weekend in May has the same conventional connotation here as the start of summer (though there are long weekends aplenty around this time in Europe too) but I’m hoping the shift into June might make it just a wee bit more okay to show a bit more color around here. And if it doesn’t, I have a feeling I’ll do it anyway! Maybe starting with this necklace?
2. Memorial Day: We consider it the start of summer and barbecues in the US, but it’s important to remember that the long weekend that we get for Memorial Day is really not about summer at all, but about taking a day to remember, and be thankful for, those who have made the sacrifice of their life for our country. During our last couple of years in the US, we would take a day in New York City to do something to be a little mindful of that – visiting the USS Intrepid or the 9/11 Memorial. It started because alternate plans for the weekends would fall through but this year, far away from the US, it actually made me a little homesick not to stick to that new tradition.
3. Tie a Scarf like a French Girl: A little series from Vogue about a chic girl tying her chic scarves in a few pretty creative ways I hadn’t yet seen. Noted for my next trip to Paris.
4. Getting Caftan Ready: There’s not shortage of bikini plans for the summer season ahead but this little humorous caftan-oriented piece from NYMag is all about scrapping the bikini and focusing on releasing inhibitions and letting the crumbs fall where they may. Enticing enough that I might take them up on it…
