If you know me in person, you know I don’t have any green thumb whatsoever. In DC, we’ve had the same plant for about ten years, and wherever I am you can always find fresh cut flowers, but I generally shouldn’t be trusted with more than that. Yet here we are in Copenhagen as proud proprietors (well, proud renters anyway) of a house with a garden.
We’re figuring it out as we go along…but gardens bring lots of little joys that were previously unknown to us…We figured out how to put up christmas lights on our bushes in the front yard. And in the back, even in these cold, gray days, there are all sorts of bursts of color that still shine through which makes taking in the outdoors right by our house all the nicer.
The picture up top is of our bird house – when we first heard we were moving to Copenhagen and would likely be in this neighborhood someone joked that the most exciting thing happening around us would be whether a bird landed in our yard or not. Now that we’ve been here, as we keep the bird seed coming, we frequently do have birds landing in our yard. This is much to the delight of the diplo-tot but actually, the exciting days are in fact the days when we get the big, colorful birds that stop by, which is often. Funny how things turn out, right?
