Since I’m diplo-too-lately on just about everything right now, a slightly abbreviated cable traffic for this monday!
1. High Noon – this is as high as the sun is getting these days. Seriously. And we’re not even in December yet. Don’t be surprised if next time you see me, I end up looking like those weird ocean bottom dweller creatures that don’t get enough exposure to sunlight…
2. Salzburg! So I’m here this week but off this weekend to just about our favorite city. Who knew that after we left our first post, we’d get so so homesick for it. I have to say that Copenhagen is giving Christmas a very fine showing so far but there’s just something about Austria that makes us miss the holiday markets so. Since I can’t take the Thanksgiving Holiday off for work reasons, we’re off for a long weekend in our most favorite of places. And yes, I’ll be singing the Sound of Music.
3. Mix it up, Mrs! I never win anything. I swear. Other than that trip to Mexico. But delighted to have won the cocktail swatchbook from the esteemed Mrs. Lilien herself – doyenne of style and arbiter of chic, she’s an honorary diplo-lady in disguise.
4. Object of my affection...just because. And because it looks like it has oodles of holiday spirit.
5. Out of Africa: Last week in Helsinki they were showing all sorts of old school favorites. Lesser renowned ones like Kindergarten Cop (funny in its own right) but more importantly, the real stuff…the good stuff. Like out of Africa. Do you know that movie is almost 30 years old. Do you know Karen was Danish (note to self #2, visit her house). Love that film, and love the book even more, despite its historical quirks, I think it’s one of the most beautiful stories of Africa ever told, and I specifically read her introductory passage while on a little 8 seater plane flying over the Ngong hills…
