The diplo-tot and I stole away last weekend for a few days of Vitamin D down in Florida – well the Vitamin D was a nice side benefit. The trip was mostly to see my family, who had absconded from the North Dakota winter to sunnier climes…can you blame them?
It was a quick trip but I’ll take palm trees just about anytime I can get them… The one on the left is from the pool in their development which rivals nearly any hotel pool I’ve seen in awhile – and diplo-tot felt the same. Not every day was a pool day (and it’s amazing how quickly you can consider 65 degrees to be “cold” when you’re in Florida) but we definitely got a few dips in…
There was shrimp…lots and lots of shrimp. On harbor side tables…in salads…but the best ones are right from my mom’s kitchen. Sauteed with garlic and butter and served right out of the pan. Perfect.
In addition to time outside, there was lots and lots of time with grandparents (and a great grandmother…and great-aunt too!). For me, it’s always a good opportunity to get back into the swing of my Polish. And for diplo-tot, a chance to learn all the Polish favorites in the first place.
