A townhouse of textures...

I'm a natural light, lots of whites, mostly neutrals and a few brights kind of girl.  I don't gravitate towards big, dark stately spaces, or heavy draperies or thick fabrics.  Except in London.  Maybe it's the rainy days (though truth be told, I've always been lucky with sunshine in London), or maybe its the sense of infinite history, but I can dig a bit of cozy nooks and lots of layers when I'm here.

Which is why I was so intrigued by Kim Hersov's home that was in Elle Decor last month.  I just couldn't stop staring at her bedroom, with its dark walls and patterened duvet and layers upon layers - it's so different than what I'm naturally drawn too.  But I'll chalk it up to the change of seasons and wanting to layer on myself the way she's layered in her home, with a mix of textures and provenance, but without being overly heavy.  The only thing missing in this house is a nice mug of tea...

  1. Wow, I'm smitten. I don't know if I'd ever be brave enough to try teal walls, but it looks wonderful here. And I love the mix and match of styles and textures, like she's taken lots of time to grow a collection.

  2. I am also very much drawn to whites, off-whites and other neutral colors. (When I picked out all our towels/linens/etc. for our wedding gift registry and they all ended up being white or close it it, my husband chided my taste as "plain," but I prefer "simple" or "classic.") That being said, I love the boldness of these styles. And I absolutely adore exposed brick walls.
