We packed a picnic of mildly Austrian inspired goodies - potato salad, carrot salad and beet salad. Instead of schnitzel we went with "schnitzel inspired", and picked up some goodness from Popeye's Fried Chicken (we're cross-cultural over here!) and finally; and for dessert, mini "sachertortes" (i.e. Whole Foods brownies cut with an apricot filling and glaze).
The best part of the Sing-a-long is that everyone actually sings and we had several people join us that had never been before, bewildered that there were not hundreds, but thousands, of people that come to sing these classics at the top of their lungs. If you've ever sang along to this movie with nothing but your TV for company, you need to come to this event.
Until next summer, Von Trapps! In the meantime, I "must pack my little bag and return to Vienna where I belong!". Well...I won't really, but I will be wishing I could!
