Our trips to Salzburg always followed a formula, and this time around we didn’t see any reason to stray from the original. Salzburg, Goldener Hirsh, Tomaselli’s and little souvenirs from shopping downtown before heading off to the mountains – it works every time.
One of the stores that always makes it into our rounds is Gemacher Interiors. It’s a treasure trove of room after room, somehow combining the best of Austro-chic and Americana styling. Who knew you could have such a combination? They had the steamer trunks and airplane wing desks long before they reached Restoration Hardware. Our weakness is anything with an antler head on it – ceramics…towels…candelabras. It turns out you can do a lot in interior design with antler heads. Also, in this store antler heads always go with chandeliers. Mostly the store is fully of eye candy for us since we’re not planning on acquiring an alpine lodge anytime soon, but this place always makes me want to throw a beautiful dinner party right then and there.
