Arboretum in Bloom...

In addition to seeing the cherry blossoms last week, we also headed out to to the National Arboretum for the first time.  All those years spent in Washington and we never had been - although to be fair, you really do need a car to go.  Nothing like a diplo-tot to broaden your horizons I guess... But in any case, better late than never - the grounds are beautiful (and free!) and lots of things to see, places for kids to run around.  We didn't make it to the bonsai gardens because of time (they close at 5!) but did see the columns that they're so known for, as well as a killer koi pond.  The main visitors center is closed for renovations right now but looks like it's right out of a "Mad Men Go Camping" episode - kind of a mid-century gem if you ask me.  Would love to see it inside.  Enjoy the springtime pics!

  1. Great idea A,

My brother and his family is coming visiting next week from Sweden, the original plan was to time it with the peak cherry blossom but climate change blew that one. As he is a forester he might very well be into a visit. It has been on my bucket list for a long time as well.
