Everything you wanted to know about the cherry blossom bloom in 3 minutes...

The weather this week as been absolutely phenomenal - while there has been a nice breeze to the mornings, the afternoons are taking us quickly to 80 degrees.  Spring is definitely here - at least for awhile. But the fact that it has gotten so warm so fast has made me worried we'll miss the cherry blossoms this year, which I have been looking forward to all winter.

In researching the bloom dates (looks like it will start as early as the 18th - that's this Sunday!-  I came across this fantastic video from the Washington Post.  It's everything you wanted to know about the science behid the cherry blossoms blooming in under three minutes, with gorgeous chalk art by Patterson Clark in a funky stop motion (and we all know how much i love stop motion) by AJ Chavar.  Kudos to the Post for putting something so cool together - now I just need chalk guy to tell us when exactly we need to get out to see those blossoms.  Am putting together a battle plan for this weekend for multiple viewing opportunities!
