Venice is like a box of chocolates...

...that you eat all at once, said Truman Capote.  Totally correct in my humble opinion, especially during the carnival season.  As I was getting our camera and gear ready for Mexico, it made me stop and realize that while we're excited to be headed to a new kind of Carnival (we'll be in Cozumel over the weekend for the festivities), it's bittersweet not to be celebrating in Venice.  After three years, we had our own little drill and I'll definitely be missing it.

I found a few more pictures of the carnivale masks that I hadn't yet posted - and aside from making me smile with fond memories, it also made me realize how much I've learned about my camera since then in terms of colors and focus.  But we all start learning somewhere, and Venice is not such a bad place to break in a DSLR basically right out of the box.

If you're craving more masks, because in Venice more is more, pour yourself a little Aperol Spritz and check out last year's post here - and if you're headed to Venice, don't forget to check out the dining guide and coffee recommendations, as well as the full series of posts from last year's trip.

Maybe we'll see you there next year?
