See above? That’s the beach. And that’s also where we’re supposed to be right now. And it’s also where we are not right now. Sigh. Sometimes duty calls and vacations get cancelled – we had a long weekend planned in the Hamptons with friends. How exotic America! I’ve been wanting to see these hamptons for years, as I’ve been honing visions of myself drinking some sort of light summery elixir with the ocean breeze and wearing an of-the-moment chic yet casual ensemble (that I probably don’t actually own) while a DJ spins a hip dance beat version of Downeaster Alexa. Alas, it won’t be this year, so diplo-baby and I will be holding down the fort here in the nation’s capital as we look ahead to fall.
So even though I did an interior already this week of a Hamptons house in eager anticipation of seeing said decor, I’ll close out the week with the original Hamptons house that perked my interest and that I love to this day (which is a testament to the timelessness of Eric Hughes’ work). It belongs to SJP and Matthew Broderick and was featured years ago in Elle Decor. The turquoise Moroccan chandelier is gorgeous against the white backdrop, but what really stands out is the fact that you can’t immediately tell that this house belongs to celebrities. In fact, it looks like normal people live here – a clean space with pops of color and a good attitude. What a fine note to end summer on!
Have a great labor day weekend!
PS – and doesn’t that bedroom look familiar? that’s because it was already posted once in sleeping with the stars!
