Bet you thought I was going to show our home, right? Wrong. We’re not quite there yet – although we moved into our furnished condo, it turns out that your needs change when you left as a just married couple who spent less than a year in the space, and returned as a small family with nanny. So we’re still working out the kinks -though the pressure is on to get everything wrapped up this weekend.
So in the meantime, I’ll share with you a DC townhouse featured in House Beautiful. There are lots of things about this one that I’m drawn to (i.e. the order of the bedroom, the calming colors), but also a lot of things that I’m not too sure about (the wacky living room arrangements). The accompanying interview with Barry Dixon, has a few memorable phrases, such as how he used brown to keep the spacy from looking “too frothy”, and advice like “the bleaker your life, the more important color becomes.”
I think overall, the look comes together as a bit “showroomy” but there is a family living here – I wonder where they keep the kids. But at least it’s not frothy. Or bleak.
