Cultural day for DB and I – and despite a mild snafus that involved me thinking I lost my keys but instead cleverly placed them inside my glove, we joined up with a (very patient) friend and made it out on the town.
Today’s activity was checking out the Hyper Real exhibit at the MUMOK. Several people have told me that the pieces “aren’t my thing but it’s nice”. But they’re definitely my thing. Not necessarily things I would hang in my living room (though there are a few in there) but everything an exhibit should be in my view: well curated, interesting pieces that you wouldn’t normally see, art that makes you think…
The exhibit centers around realism/photo realism/hyper realism – call it what you will – basically things that look “real”. Paintings that look like photos, photos that look like real life…Very cool. Also lots of photos from the 60’s/70’s era featuring various old school fonts on American buildings that you just don’t see anymore.
And DB gave it a thumbs up as well – how do I know? Because she napped the entire way through. Catch the exhibit until February 13.
