Prosit Neue Jahr!

The day we leave Vienna will be a sad day, no doubt...And that day will unfortunately come upon us in 2011, as we head back stateside for our next post.  But until then, we still have about half a year to make the most out of what Vienna has to offer...

There is perhaps nothing more superlative to do in Vienna than to attend the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Day Concert at the Musikverein.  Despite entering the lotteries (which begin tomorrow for the 2012 concert - register here), unsurprisingly, we have not yet won the opportunity to buy tickets (you don't even win the tickets themselves!).  It costs a pretty penny, but it's a bucket list kind of thing to do. 

This year, we watched it from the comfort of our living room, with a slice of last nights banana cake and cappucinos - a close second.  Here's their closing with the Blue Danube...Prosit Neue Jahr!
